Maithri Rao is a Bharatanatyam artist, choreographer, yoga practitioner, and the Founder and Artistic Director of Shivansh School of Arts and Team Shivansh. Trained for over 20 years under eminent teachers in Bangalore and Mysore, she has been honored with prestigious accolades such as the Yuvashri Award, Stri Shakti Award, and National Nritya Mani Award.

Maithri has performed extensively as a solo artist on celebrated stages, including Mysore Dasara, Naada Neerajanam, and the Jayasmriti Festival curated by Smt. Hema Malini. She also represented Hyderabad as the only dancer in the inaugural musical of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, Mumbai.

 

She has worked with renowned choreographers and has had roles in two internationally acclaimed dance films, The Kitchen and My First Chair.

Maithri blends tradition and innovation to create works that resonate with contemporary audiences. Her choreography addresses themes such as women’s empowerment (Naari), body positivity (Every Body Can Dance), and cultural celebration (Jashn-E-Hyderabad).

Through the Shivansh School of Arts, Maithri emphasizes the joy and creativity of learning Bharatanatyam and allied fields like Yoga and Carnatic Music.

 

Under her leadership, Team Shivansh has become synonymous with excellence in performance, captivating audiences at events like TEDx Hyderabad, Pride of Telangana Awards, Hyderabad Dance Festival, and international conferences.

 

Their acclaimed productions—Journey of Rhythms, Jashn-E-Hyderabad, and Dances of India—have received widespread appreciation.

Maithri’s vision continues to inspire , as she redefines classical dance for modern audiences.
